About Marisa

My name is Marisa, and I am what you might call, an enigma.

/iˈnigmənoun a person or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand.

I fully embrace this definition, I think all people are enigmas. There are so many facets to people that even if you had all the time in the world you will never fully know everything about one person. People are ever evolving, as has this blog.

It all started because I didn't have a full-time job. Graduating at the peak of unemployment was not my favorite. Over time this blog has ebbed and flowed, following me through my jobs, engagement, marriage, moves and further. You are welcome to follow along as I learn what it means to grow up, be a partner, be a woman, along with lighter things like learning to cook, wear makeup, have a home, and maybe be fit. I can't help you have it all, because, who does? Beyonce. But I'm here to learn and grow and welcome you to join me on the journey! If you ever have any questions feel free to leave a comment! Thanks for reading!

About Marisa and Dr. Chris:

Dr. Chris and I have been married for four years in July. We met in high school if you can believe it! I moved to Charlotte, NC in the middle of my junior year of high school from Northern Virginia and my parents left the decision of when to move up to me. Thankfully, I was wise beyond my years and decided to move as soon as possible so I could make friends in my new hometown and therefore have friends to visit when I came home from college. Chris and I met playing for our schools ultimate frisbee team, a hobby we still have to this day, although we play more disc golf now.

After high school I went to UNCW and Chris went to Duke and our relationship thrived through the distance with lots of phone calls and hurricane evacuation trips for me. After college I moved to Charlotte and I started this blog! I was a nanny for about a year before getting a 'real' job. Chris went to University of Maryland in Baltimore for Dental school right after undergrad and after a year of being there and after five of being with me he decided to make it official and pop the question!

{finally put a ring on it}
We got married a year later in Kauai, Hawaii and I joined him in Baltimore for the remainder of his time there.

After he graduated {top of his class} we moved to Chapel Hill for his Orthodontic residency. Can you tell I'm ridiculously proud of him and all his hard work?

After we moved to Chapel Hill we finally got the puppy that we have been wanting pretty much since we've known each other and we couldn't love Kona any more!

We have one more year in Chapel Hill in his program and who knows what the future holds for us? Hopefully only good things!
