Chris and I had a very nice weekend. We started off on Friday with Chris hanging out with his brother and me with my sister-in-law. Several girls in our book club have read 'As You Wish' and wanted to watch The Princess Bride so we had a little screening at our girlfriends house who has an awesome screening room. So the girls watched a movie and the guys played video games! It was a great night we went totally old school with pjs, pizza, wine instead of soda, candy, and of course gossip about boys. It was so fun to catch up with them outside of book club!
The next day Chris and I headed over to Greensboro to check out a practice he might be able to take over once he graduates. Chris and I have only been to Greensboro for basketball games so we really needed to see what it was like outside of the NCAA. Before we left we stopped at Joe Van Gogh since I have no coffee left and definitely need it in the morning! The place was super adorable, great coffee and pastries, they have a great patio so even the little Kon could come and socialize outside.
It was a great start to a great weekend. We dropped Kona off at one of our friends houses and we were off. We started out by driving around the downtown area and expanding out. The downtown is really cute and seemed to have a fair amount to offer. We spent most of the day just checking out neighborhoods and driving around. We got lunch at Crafted: The Art of the Taco and it was awesome! Of course I LOVE tacos so I loved it, but it legitimately so good! I got the Fedora tacos with sweet potato chips and Chris got the Big Truck and I think the Fixie with chips and queso. They were amazing and we were stuffed probably into dinner.
We spent the rest of the day driving around, looking at the practice and just checking out the 'burbs. We went to Undercurrents for dinner where we both got the specials. After that we were planning on meeting with one of my friends but downtown was so packed after the baseball game, a concert and what was probably an undie run we decided to get a drink at the bar in our hotel.
Our hotel was awesome! We stayed at the Proximity which is the first commercial hotel to be LEED Platinum. Coming from an architecture standpoint that is HUGE. This basically means the hotel is as Green as you can get on the spectrum of being USGBC Certified. But in their words 'conservation doesn't mean deprivation.' Chris and I stayed in one of the corner rooms and it was so cool.
I loved all the light we got, the tall ceilings, how it all looked like we were in an old warehouse but completely regenerated into a hotel. Also out bartender was awesome and he gave us a rundown of all that was around us as well as a little tour of the drink menu.
The next day we had brunch at the adjoining Print Works Bistro enjoying the beautiful day and spoiling ourselves with creme filled beignets.
We also split a Croque Madame but that isn't nearly as pretty. (and we definitely didn't finish these!) I'd definitely go back and stay at the Proximity just for the convenience to Print Works.
After our bellies were probably over-stuffed we went back to pick up the Kon and continue adventures in unpacking. I realize it looks like all the did was eat but we saw A LOT and have a lot to think about for our future. Ahhh!! Adulting is getting real!
