Rumor Has It

So the other day I heard a was a rumor about me and my husband. SO WEIRD! Chris and I are pretty low key people, we keep to ourselves and have several people we like to share our lives with and of course the blog. But I found this particular rumor kind of troubling because the source was someone I would consider a friend, not a great friend, but a friend none the less. What was odd was they told this to one of our very good friends who of course, being a good friend, told us. It wasn't anything massive or embarrassing even, but I just found it odd that this person would even think to talk about us and our relationship considering how little time we, as a couple spend with this person. One of us does spend a good amount of our time with this person and the other does not. So I don't know where they would get the idea that there was anything besides general wedded bliss between us. I don't know, I guess people can find anything to talk about and going towards the negative can be very easy.
I try not to gossip in general, usually I am a listener and rarely-never a contributor. At least I think so. I don't know, I just wanted to vent a bit because it really hurt my feelings that someone would talk about us behind our backs and to our very good friend no less. And what if we actually were having problems? I guess Chris and I are kind of unusual in someways, but just because we don't prescribe to everyone's idea of marriage doesn't mean something is wrong and if it was, doesn't give you the right to talk about us when you don't really know us as a couple. Ugh. Sorry, I just wanted to get that off my chest. Especially before I start our wonderful month of LOVE! For the month of February I'm going to be writing on and all about L-O-V-E! Mine, yours, whateva! So enough about what other people say! Lets get into this month of love and the plans it might have for us!

Ulta-mate love

The other day I went to Ulta, one of my favorite place to get cosmetics. Higher end, drug store AND their own store brand are available there. The main reason I went was to return an under-eye concealer. Thankfully Ulta has a very good return policy and they let me return a high end concealer. I had heard so many good things about Benefits Erase Paste and unfortunately for me, it just did not do the job. It creased so easily, I would apply it, fill in my eyebrows and have to dab under my eyes because it had already creased! I was sorely unimpressed and I had just dropped $30 on that sucker! Thankfully they let me return it and try a different one. Right now I'm using Stila Perfecting Concealer and so far it's getting the job done!
I also purchased some more Baby Lips because I love them so much! I got Coral Crush and Melon Mania. Neither really add any color to your lips and Melon Mania is by far my favorite smell. I think it smells like a pink tropical starburst, not melon at all, but so yummy smelling! I don't particularly like the smell of Coral Crush, it smells like an orange cough drop, slightly menthol and not the satsuma scent I love so much. I already owned Quenched, which smells like a lemon Haribo gummi bear and Cherry Nice which smells like a cherry slushy and gives a slight red tint to your lips.  I almost forgot I have Pink Punch which smells like fruit punch and leaves a slight light pink on the lips.
I was sorely sorely tempted to get some nail polishes, but resisted! It took a lot of strength! Right now I really want some lighter blues and darker greens, like a hunter or emerald and a lilac color. Do you have any favorites?

I hope you enjoyed this mini haul and review! What are your favorite products? Any holy grail items you just can't live without? Please let me know!

Chili Chili Chili

So every year my office has a chili cook-off and it's a pretty big deal. I didn't enter last year because I wanted to observe and see how intense they actually get. It's pretty intense. Like I said yesterday I had an unintentional mini chili cook-off with some friends. There were only 2 chili's and I'm pretty sure mine won. ;) It was really good and the first time I had ever made chili. So my question is what do you HAVE to have in your chili? I don't want to give the recipe out just yet but I would love some tips. Do you like it hot? Sweet? With Fritos and sour cream? Is there a 'secret' ingredient you use? Let me know!

Baltimore City Restaurant Week!

YAY! This is something that I always look forward to! Most cities have a Restaurant Week to promote the local restaurants and get people into the city to experience new places, and hopefully persuade patrons to go back again and again. The deal in Baltimore is pay $15.13 for a 2 course lunch or $20.13-$30.13 for a three course dinner. You can check out all the restaurants and see the prix-fixe menus here. This year it starts today, January 25th and runs until February 3rd. Get your reservations in so you don't miss out!
Chris and I almost always try to take advantage and try new places. This year we're going to an old favorite, The Brewers Art. I looked into the places long ago and knew I wanted to go back to Brewers so I made a reservation for tonight! Where do you guys want to go? Does your city have a restaurant week? Where are your favorite places to go in Baltimore?

Snow Day

I was going to post something different but, you know. It snowed, and my train was delayed 30 minutes, so what are ya gonna do? My walk to the train this morning:
Is it snowing where you are?

Pop Physique

{From Pop Physique Baltimore's Facebook Page}
Several months ago I along with one of the dental girls bought a Groupon for 10 classes for Pop Physique. You're probably wondering what that is because they only have 14 locations and most of them are in California. Pop Physique is a mixture of barre, Pilates, yoga and isometric exercises. It wasn't quite what I expected out of a barre class. Kristin and I both came in with the expectation of having maybe a couple 8 counts and possibly a bit more dance thrown in there. We actually unfortunately, came in late due to the Circulator not coming when it said it would! (grrr) But the people there were very nice and let us right in just having us sign a waiver before we started since it was our first class. So we jumped into the arm work they had already started on a mat (already set out for us) using our own body weight, it got pretty rough towards the end. Then we picked up a couple very small weights and started isometrics. I think if you have never done dance or isometrics before this might be a bit hard to do the first time out. We moved on to barre work, floor work and we used small balls for balance and leg work. When it was over I felt good about working out but not in the way I would feel after a good run or Crossfit. I wasn't sweating at all. I guess I expected a little more. I guess with a name like Pop Physique I wanted a little more action! :)
Today I'm a little sore. Not "Oh Lord I can't walk" sore, more like "I haven't had a proper workout in 2 months" sore. It's mostly in my booty, the backs of my legs and my upper back, but again, not painful just a dim soreness.
I will definitely go back, mostly because I have 9 classes left but I don't know if I will return after that. I really like going to the school gym and Mr. Chris and I are getting a month membership to a climbing gym in February. So I'll let you know how it works out with Pop Physique! Have any of you taken classes like that? Do you like them? Do you have any recommendations?

I don't know about you guys but I loooovvvveee to have my nails painted. In fact, it always feels a little odd to not have them painted. What with me staying in DC I have let my nails grow out. (I did get the opportunity to try a glitter french manicure diy!)
(Please excuse the poor iphone quality)
For most people long healthy nails are something they pray and work hard for. I have to opposite problem. My nails and hair grow so fast people forget that I ever had short hair because it's back to a long mane in no time. What is the problem with that you may ask? Oh just that I have to change my nail polish at least every 3 or 4 days not because of chipping but because my nail beds are breaking out from under the cover of the polish. I also like to keep my nails pretty short. I hate to be all 'whoa is me' but does anyone else have this problem? So for now, I'm going naked on the nail. Totally different for me, long naked nails.
Some examples of past manis. Can you tell I like to add a little glitter?

This long weekend

We'll it's not actually a long weekend for me, I have to go to work! But happy Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to you all and Happy Inauguration Day! I am relieved I didn't have to go into DC today but it would still be fun to participate in the day! I know a few people that are braving the cold to see the acts and the swearing in and all the excitement the day has to offer! If you're snuggled in bed or just taking it easy today,  here is a quick little rundown of my weekend!
Friday: Pep Rally at the Inner Harbor!
Thinking about some peplum...
Dinner with dad and taking a pretty unattractive picture?
Saturday: Finally organizing and putting away the Christmas tree...
Getting creative with the larger ornaments that wouldn't fit in the organizer...
Made Sweet Potato and Chorizo Lettuce Wraps and watched Moonrise Kingdom with Mr. Chris!
Sunday: Watched the Ravens/Pats game!
Drove through the bedlam that was Baltimore.
{Taken by @DowntownDiane}
How was your weekend? Crazy? Fun? Sad? Awesome? How are you spending your day off? I'm jealous of you.

Purple Friday!

So I'm not a huge football fan. I like to watch it, but I do not keep up with it. In fact I might be the worst about watching it, so much so that I got an award for WORST fantasy footballer ever...
{Hey, I was traveling!}
But I do live extremely close to Ravens Stadium, so close that when we went to the very first game this season Mr. Chris and I just walked then came home and watched non-residents get towed from in front of our house. Sorry guys, if you ask us, we'll tell you where you can park ticket and tow free. I've actually moved our car so people can park in the unrestricted areas. Same goes for O's games! Back to the point, Go Ravens! I hope you're wearing your purple because I have no idea how well the Pats have been doing {read above} so this might be our last purple Friday in Baltimore!

Chorizo and Sweet Potato Lettuce Wraps

Last night I stayed at Heather Lee's house since I have a limited amount of time in the DC/Baltimore area. We decided to take it easy and make a healthy and yummy dinner of Lettuce Wraps! I just have to say I was a little skeptical but it looked good and who doesn't love what is basically a taco? This girl loves herself some tacos! :) So we went to work post haste since we were pretty starving after all of our chopping, sauteing and Beyonce Dance party-ing. These were SO GOOD, to die. I might have to make them again for Mr. Chris. A mixture of sweet and salty and spicy all wrapped up in bib lettuce. Oh and the cilantro cream! It cut in so nicely, I definitely think you could put this on anything. Regular tacos, gyros, or even just as a dip. I'm definitely going to be looking at this blog more for delicious dinners because it was super fast, (healthy-ish?) to make and delicious! Of course this is not our meal because I didn't even think to take a picture and it was super gloomy in DC so there no way that light could have been real! But it put a pep in our step and now my mouth is watering for more! Do you have any awesome food blogs you like to follow? Or any good recipes in general? Please share! Below is mine and Mr. Chris' attempt from here, either way it's delicious!

Valentines Day!

Ok I know I'm probably a little crazy but, I love Valentine's Day! I used to not like it, I mean I still don't like the force behind it. That you can just not do nice, romantic things on the regular because you have a holiday to save you. People in relationships should do fun, romantic things all the time! BUT the reason I like the money-making corporate holiday that is Valentine's Day is the fact that stores and shops are filled with adorable pink and red hearts! I have become such a girly-girl, and apparently, a huge sucker. I just love LOVE! I get overly excited when people get engaged and cry at every wedding.
Why am I talking about Valentines a month before it even happens? Because I came across these bowls and mugs:
and I just had to share because I think they are so sweet and like I said, I love me some hearts! Now I want to start planning something fun to do with Mr. Chris. Since the day is on a Thursday we might go rock climbing if we have survived snowboarding! Do you guys like to do anything on Valentines Day? Do you hate Valentines day? Let me know!

Long Distance Relationships

This is just a snippet of my knowledge of LDRs. After all Mr. Chris and I were long distance for SEVEN YEARS! AKA the entire time we dated up until we were married. I saw an ad for these lights a few days ago and thought they were so sweet.
Basically one person turns on the light and it remotely turns on your partners light, no matter where they are. It also reminded me of when I would run home from a friends house in my neighborhood and would flash our front porch light to let them know I got home safely. There used to be bears or pillows one person could hug and the corresponding bear would light so it was like you were hugging each other. I always wanted one but they were at least $100+ and on a poor college students budget that just wasn't going to happen. Luckily Mr. Chris and I both had cell phones that we could call each other every night so we could stay close. Have any of you been in a long distance relationship? Would you want to hear more about our experience and how we managed to see it through to what I like to think of as a wildly successful marriage? {hahaha jk!} But seriously, anyone want to hear more?

What I've been doing?

Playing catch up and dying over the menswear showcased and worn to Pitti Uomo. I love menswear, I think because most men cut the same beautiful line. For anyone that loves to layer, menswear takes the lead from women because, I think, women start to lose their beautiful shape to a certain point and in menswear the shape is almost always maintained. Maybe I just can't do it for myself, either way I love to dress a man. Feast your eyes, I know I have.

Coconut Banana Bread Muffins

I wanted to make a snack that I could munch on while I make the long long drive down to North Carolina, I knew I had all the ingredients for these. I made them last night, I can honestly say they are so delicious! I've made them before and I would love to make them again. They are so easy to make and provide a quick and healthy start to the day. As an added bonus they can be made vegan with egg replacements! Chris and I are usually pretty good about not letting things go bad but bananas can be easy to forget about! So I usually just pop them in the freezer once they get mushy. This was the first recipe I ever used coconut oil in and it was quite the experience. When I think 'oil' I think liquid. Nope this is white and hard but it's an excellent and healthy substitute for butter. You can melt it down to liquid form and use it as a substitute for canola oil or the like. The only problem with this recipe I didn't realize until I was putting in my second batch to bake? My car mate is ALLERGIC TO COCONUT! oops! I guess I won't be sharing! :( Full recipe HERE.

Baby Boy

I may or may not have announced earlier that my sister is going to have a baby boy at the end of February! I am beyond excited and I can't wait to meet the little guy! One her friends is throwing her a baby shower this weekend and me and one of Noelle's dearest friends are road tripping down together tomorrow so we can spend some time together with Noelle and her friends. Who apparently all are pregnant too so Nikki and I will be bringing our own water! ;)
Ever since I found out she is having a boy I have been on the hunt for adorable baby clothes. Because I have a problem. I love shopping for others. Here are some of the adorable things that I just squeal over because they are SO CUTE! Seriously Baby Gap Has THE CUTEST outfits!

To Cleanse or Not to Cleanse?

I wrote that one of my resolutions this year was to lose 10 pounds. That being said obviously I want to do this the healthy way! But I also want to try new ways to do that since my regular routine isn't cutting it. I recently thought about doing a juice cleanse to kickoff the New Year but I definitely wanted to do some research first to see if it was worth it. All in all it doesn't seem worth it in my opinion. Cleanses can be very expensive! And have you read the side affects? What is a hot bowel movement!? The other side affects are called being hungry! Irritability, headaches, stomach cramps, fatigue, that's called BEING HUNGRY! After all it's just juiced fruits and vegetable right? Why can't I just eat those whole? I haven't found anything that says there are benefits of the fruit and veggies being blended? After all those foods are natural cleansers anyway right? Have any of you had any great luck with cleanses? I haven't done a ton of research but the couple hours I've been reading the pros and cons I think I'll stick to a cleaner way of eating and portion control. What are your thoughts on cleanses? Have you tried any? Have they worked? Please share your thoughts because I would love to hear your success stories!

Favorite Christmas Gifts

Well if you're wondering from this post I did get my squirrel, cook book, Gold Polka-dot jammies, and my wine bow ties and a few other items that I LOVE! My husband surprised me by getting me these gold shoes!
I'm obsessed with gold, or any metallic, but mostly gold for right now. Just call me Midas because I got ANOTHER pair of gold shoes from Mr. Chris' parents! I been wanting these for quite a while and could never bring myself to buy them for myself since I already have a pair of perfectly good tan Sperry's.
My favorite thing I got might be the gold polka dot pajamas because of the hunt Mr. Chris had to go on to find them. He called all the surrounding stores in Baltimore AND in Charlotte since our parents live there, they could just pick them up. Finally he found a Target in Severna that would hold them for him! Severna is about an hour away from us! He had to tell me he was going shopping for his dad while I was making dinner, so I wouldn't be able to go with him. SO sneaky! What is your favorite present you received this year?

Goals for 2013

I don't have a complete list of everything I want to improve on this year but here is a small list I have that I would like I accomplish in the next 5 months! Why 5 months? Mr. Chris will be Dr. Chris by then and we will be going on a little vacation and MOVING! So many changes! Ah! So here is my 5 month resolution list.

1.) Stand up straighter; I've noticed I've been hunched over so much lately and standing/sitting up straight not only makes you look more confident but it makes you look thinner too! Speaking of thinner...
2.) I want to lose 10 pounds. This is pure vanity, I am a healthy normal weight right now that I have maintained for a long time. Losing that 10 pounds, I will still be a healthy weight, this goal goes hand in hand with eating more cleanly and...
3.) Working out regularly; I went to the gym usually around twice a week last year, but it was always scattered. I want to make it a regular more scheduled thing.
4.) Make things easier for myself. Like making sure my clothes are ready for the next day, I have no idea how much times I've wasted trying on different outfits in the morning because I can't decide! It's the little things that pull your life together.
5.) Organize, move, and purge our house of extraneous things before the move. This I will really enjoy! I love to organize and donate things to goodwill.
So that's it for now! Let's hope I can do this! I will probably, maybe, hopefully post about working out and eating and hopefully losing some weight over the next few months! I look forward to it! What are your goals for the year?

Last Years Resolutions!

AH! I can't believe it's been a year already! It was a year ago I threw together a million appetizers and dips for our orphan party and had a blast!? This year was the complete opposite. Mr. Chris and I had a planned dinner that we made quietly in our house and watched a couple movies before making our way to the roof to watch the fireworks and have our first kiss of the New Year. A quiet beginning to a crazy year! Seriously, the next 6 months are going to be insane! But I am so happy with everything we have going on I am so grateful for the people I've surrounded myself with and their ongoing support.
Sorry veering off into a totally different subject! Back on track to the resolutions! Here are my goals I gave myself last year, let's see how well I did...
1.} Go to the gym at least once a week...I actually kept up with this one and kind of need to ramp it up a bit this year! CHECK.
2.} Join a club/volunteer more...I did! So far I'm really enjoying it and want to do more volunteering! CHECK.
3.} Write more letters...this one kind of dropped off. What am I supposed to write? I don't even do Christmas cards!?
4.} Finish house projects from 2011! Chandelier never happened, I re-purposed the fabric into fun Christmas/Valentines decor! :) CHECK.5.} Be a better employee...I got more responsibility and was involved in projects, CHECK.
6.} Write in the blog at least 2 times a week! umm, let's just not talk about this one. half check?
7.} Donate the things we don't need, want or use anymore. DONE. Still doing.  DOUBLE CHECK.
8.} Stop being so scared. Bangs didn't happen, but other 'out-of-the-box' things did, so CHECK.
9.} Find a church. CHECK.
10.} Finally to keep at least half of these goals and work on them each month. ohhhh yeah, CHECK PLUS. :)

This years goals up tomorrow, promise! :)
